We are in an unprecedented time with COVID-19. Updates about how PT is impacted are almost daily; please continue to refer to APTA for the most recent updates. Make sure you are knowledgeable about Telehealth & Evisits so you can still treat your patients!
Telehealth
Many insurances are allowing Telehealth as an option for continued PT treatment while we practice social distancing. MedSoft has adapted by adding a “Telehealth” checkbox on PT documentation, as shown below:
When you check Yes to indicate that the visit was Telehealth, the following actions occur behind the scenes:
- The necessary modifiers for telehealth visits are added to your billing codes
- The Place of Service is automatically updated to “02” as required for all telehealth services.
These steps ensure that your visit will be correctly billed so that you can continue treating patients.
Evisits
At present, Medicare is allowing E-visits, rather than telehealth. The appropriate G codes for Evisits have been added to MedSoft, and can be found in the Procedures drop-down in Therapist Documentation:
When these G-codes are selected, MedSoft will automatically:
- Apply the necessary modifiers to the codes
- Update the Place of Service on the HCFA to “02”
These steps ensure that your visit will be correctly billed so that you can continue treating patients.
Looking Ahead
