It’s that time of year again – we are approaching the Annual Policy Reset!

What is the Annual Policy Reset?

We at CAVU realize that most patients’ policies will reset as we begin the new calendar year. In an effort to decrease the workload for your clinic in updating policies, MedSoft will automatically reset all policies on January 1, 2018.

What exactly are you resetting?

On January 1, 2018, all patients’ policies will be reset for the new calendar year. Specifically:

  • Visits

    • The current number of Visits “Remaining” will move to the “Prev” box, as a point of reference if the clinic needs it.
    • The Visits “Remaining” box will then be updated to match the “Visits Allowed” box.
    • If the N/A box is checked, nothing will happen.

  • Deductible

    • The current Deductible “Remaining” amount will move to the “Prev” box, as a point of reference if the clinic needs it.
    • The Deductible “Remaining” field will be reset to match the “Deductible Amount” field.
    • If the Deductible “Met” box was previously checked, it will be unchecked.

  • Medicare

    • All Medicare policies will have the “Medicare Allowed” and “Medicare Remaining” boxes reset to the 2018 limits.
      • For 2018, the Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language therapy cap will be $2010.
    • The “KX modifier Met” box will be unchecked for all Medicare policies.
    • The “Deductible Amount” box will be reset to the 2018 Medicare Deductible amount.
      • For 2018, the Medicare Deductible amount will remain at $183.

That’s cool, but I have a patient whose policy doesn’t start/end on a calendar year. I don’t want their policy reset.

If you would like for a policy to be excluded from this reset (for example, if a patient’s policy resets on a different timeline than a calendar year), an “Exclude Yearly Reset” checkbox is available in the Policy screen. Checking this box will opt the patient’s policy out of the yearly reset process. The clinic will then be responsible for resetting that policy data when necessary.
